Question of the Week: Relaxed Ends

Question:

Hey Kendra.. I emailed you before about transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair. I wanted to know how long did it take for your relaxed end to be completely gone? I have been transitioning for about 7 months. I have cut some of my relaxed end but I don't want to cut my hair anymore. I have about half and inch of relaxed hair left and I'm wondering when they will be gone without me cutting them? I will send you a picture so you can see.

Answer:

Good to hear from you! It took me about a year to a year and a half for all of my relaxed ends to break off. So you are about halfway there! :)

The light brown ends are my relaxed and dyed ends
that eventually had to break off. In the meantime try
wearing styles like bantu knots, flex rod curls, etc.
Making all of your hair textured helps cover up the
straight ends!

*I would also like to add that I don't advocate hair cutting. I believe that God has given us our hair as our glory and because of it, we have the power of angels. I also believe that the word of God admonishes us to have uncut hair. If you would like to know more info, read this post.
